The Black Lives Matter Pendant.
My contribution to the movement.

This movement has gripped the world with people shouting on either side, or worse, saying nothing. It's a topic that is very close to my heart, not only because it’s about time for change, but because I am a biracial Black woman.
My skin and the skin of my friends, brothers, cousins, aunties, uncles and father is something that we were born into, without a choice. With this skin comes so many burdens; prejudice, bigotry and racism, and we live it daily. It comes with a fear that one day we’ll do something, anything, and be punished unfairly just because of the colour of our skin. This fear doesn’t just come from the police but from doctors, nurses, politicians, restaurant staff, bars, clubs, security guards, and day to day interactions with people. It’s overt and it’s systemic.
What’s going on in this world is breaking my heart. Sometimes I have SO much to say - mostly with rage and a stomach turning fear when I think of friends and family, especially those who live in America. Sometimes I have nothing to say and I feel my eyes sting and without knowing it, I’m crying. Sometimes I feel pure guilt, because as a mixed race person I receive a level of privilege that my friends and family don’t. But what I know in my heart, bones and soul is that this is not okay and that this needs to change. I have a limited platform and mostly useless skills for this type of situation but I can make jewellery and hopefully jewellery that can carry a message. I have designed this pendant with the aim of donating all the profits to Black Lives Matter Charities and for bail funds for those who are protesting. I made this to honour our ancestors, to show that we have done nothing wrong with intentionally passive hands, to show that People of Colour are still shackled because of racism and prejudice. 100% of profits are going to bail funds, lawyer fees, hospital bills and funerals. Say it loud and say it goddamn proud: BLACK LIVES MATTER!
All pendants are made to order with a 6 week lead time and are available on a choice of chain types and lengths. It can also be made in plain silver.
